For the 2026 pilgrimage season, the Kedarnath temple opening date is announced on Mahashivratri (15 February 2026). The Kedarnath temple is set to open on 22 April 2026, following the opening of other char dham circuits, Yamunotri and Gangotri.

 

While the closing date 2026 is not announced yet, based on the observation of past years, the tentative closing date is 11 November 2026, coinciding with Bhai Dooj.

Day 1: Surat To Haridwar/Dehradun

Overview: Your journey to Kedarnath starts with a departure from Surat. You can travel via train (budget-friendly option) or flight (fastest) to reach Haridwar or Dehradun. Upon your arrival, check into your hotel.   Sightseeing: Attend Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri Ghat in the evening. Overnight stay: Hotel in Haridwar

Day 2: Haridwar to Guptakashi

Distance: 204 km, Duration: 8-10 hours, Sightseeing: Rishikesh, Devprayag, Dhari Devi, and Rudraprayag.   Overview: Your actual journey starts from here. After breakfast, you are ready for your road journey towards Guptkashi. Enjoy the mesmerising views of river confluences and mountains. After reaching Guptkashi, check in to your hotel and enjoy a peaceful dinner at Mushafir Resort.

Day 3: Guptakashi to Kedarnath

Overview: In the early morning, the group with the tour guide will leave for Sonprayag, which is the last motorable point for private vehicles. From Sonprayag, our representative will arrange a shuttle taxi to Gaurikund.   After heading to Gaurikund, start your trek journey of around 16 km. Passing via Jungle Chatti, Rambara, Linchuali, Kedarnath base camp and leading to Kedarnath temple. Trek takes around 6-8 hours.   At Kedarnath, check into your hotel. Attend evening Aarti if time permits.   Overnight stay: Hotel in Kedarnath Meals: dinner

Day 4: Kedarnath to Guptkashi

Overview: At day 4 of your Kedarnath journey, devotees must wake up early around 4:00 a.m. and join the darshan queue at Kedarnath. After having Kedarnath darshan, explore nearby attractions such as Bhairav Baba temple, Retus Kund, and Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi.   After this, enjoy your breakfast in our hotel in Kedarnath and get ready for the return journey to Guptkashi. Return trek to Gaurikund is much easier and generally takes around 4-5 hours. From Gaurikund, head on a government taxi to Sonprayag. From Sonprayag, the journey will continue to Guptkashi.   Overnight stay: Mushafir Resort Meal: Dinner

Day 5: Guptkashi to Haridwar

Overview: After breakfast, head on your return journey to Haridwar. It covers a distance of around 204 km and takes around 6-8 hours. Enjoy the panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks. You can optionally visit Rishikesh for sightseeing. Visit the local market in the evening.   Stay a night in Haridwar to reduce fatigue.

Day 6: Haridwar to Surat Return

Overview: Board a train or flight to return to Surat.
